Teddi’s Recovery: Week Two

Hello to all our supporters!

Yes, it’s been a little quiet on the blog, since all of my rapid fire updates!  Taking care of Wyatt and Teddi sure takes up most of my time!  Plus I’ve had to squeeze in work wherever I can, so that I maximise the leave I have available.  So I’ve been a bit negligent!  But as there are so many of you that care about how Teddi is doing – I’d better quit slacking!

In summary, Teddi is doing great.

Enjoy your day

Nawwww, I’m just kidding.  Here’s some details.

So, in the past week, Teddi has reached several milestones in her recovery.  First, she is completely done with her chemo treatments and has even had one of her drainage ports removed.  She has also had her lung drains removed, which has been so helpful for her comfort level.  This means she only has a few bionic connections left – the upper abdominal port and one more abdominal drain.  She also still has that pesky nasal gastric tube up her nose – it drains her stomach and also gives her one hell of a sore throat!.  We’re hoping that goes next!

She has had three reflexology massages thus far.  Gifts from Dan/Pam/Kate/Adam/Jeff/Mandy (my wonderful family), Teddi’s Aunt Karen and Sally Shepard (a friend from Teddi’s strollerobics class!).  You are all angels!  These massages have been so wonderful for Teddi and have made a HUGE difference for her.  She is so relaxed afterwards, and the nature of the massages is such that her recovery is sped up and her digestive system rumbles along afterwards.  They are heaven-sent for sure!

Looking forward, she has several more reflexology massages on the way thanks to several more donors (you guys rock!!), and will continue to rest, rest and rest some more.  She has been struggling with a fever that has come and gone, a small pneumothorax (collapsed lung) and that pesky sore throat.  She’s getting a CT scan soon to see how all is progressing – will update you on that when it happens. Nothing serious at this stage, let’s hope it stays that way.  Oh, and she had the staples removed from her abdomen – another step in the right direction!

Oh and did I mention that Teddi was cleared to take showers?  That pretty much saved her life

I promise to update you with more soon. Let’s hope she starts on some liquids soon!  The ‘all clear’ for going home doesn’t come through until she is eating again – which is still a ways off.  So we expect to be in hospital for ~1-2 more weeks, at this stage.

Much love to you all,
